I know $20 seems much, but it is worth it! Everyone who’s heard her will attest to her skills. She’s like the Nigerian Lauryn Hill reloaded!

Asa is a Nigerian musician whose real name is Bukola Elemide. Asa means ‘little hawk’ and she was nicknamed so because when she was young she often ran away and changed directions like a hawk. Although born in Paris, she returned to Nigeria with her family when she was 2, living in Lagos, which she has tagged the New York of Africa. She grew up to the sounds of artists including Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and Lagbaja and went on to draw inspiration from them. She returned to Paris when she was 22 (2004) and that is where her music career took off. Check out the video to her song “Fire on the Mountain”:
